Day hiking mount kilimanjaro

Get the really taste of Mount Kilimanjaro if you don’t have enough time to do the whole thing. If you are only in Tanzania for a short amount of time, or are not quite ready to tackle the summit of Africa’s largest mountain, then We can arrange for you to do the first day of the hike up Mt Kilimanjaro. After reaching the gates at Marangu, you will hike for approximately 3-4 hours to the first lodges, 2,700 meters from the base of the mountain.

Here you will take a break for lunch while also having the opportunity to take in the stunning wildlife that surrounds you, before starting your descent. You will be accompanied by a qualified and licensed guide, ready to answer all your questions, while pointing out things of interest along the way.

Lake Chala Day Trip

Lake Chala is a crater lake in a caldera on the borders of Tanzania and Kenya on the eastern edge of Mount Kilimanjaro, an hours drive from Moshi town and 8 km north of Taveta. Depending on the time of year, it ranges in colour from deep blue to turquoise and green and is surrounded by a 100 meter high crater rim.
Having reached the Lake, with a guide, you will descend for 30 minutes down into the crater, on foot, to discover the refreshing and rewarding water that awaits you. It is then completely up to you how long you want to spend down at the lake, either swimming or simply taking in the beautiful scenery that surrounds you.

Njoro Forest

Approximately one hour outside of Moshi town, lays Njoro Forest. By taking bicycles, or simply on foot, you will explore the forest with a guide, where it is possible to spot the colobus monkey, blue monkey and if lucky, the rarely sited Kirk’s dik-dik which also inhabit all of the national safari parks.
You will also visit a rice plantation and the enormous magical tree, surrounded by myth and legend. This is where most people will opt to stop for lunch. You will then head back to Moshi town; satisfied, muddy and in need of a refreshing cold beverage.

Chemka Hot Springs Day Trip

The Chemka Hot Springs are about 40 kilometers away from Moshi, in the homonymous village called Chemka. They are underground springs with warm water. The water forms a clear and clean pond which is ideal for swimming. The pond is very deep, in some places up to 10 meters, but the water is so clear that you can see the bottom well all the time. The pond is situated under lush trees. On the shore you can camp, enjoy your snacks and let yourself dry after swimming.

Materuni Waterfalls

Around 20 -30 minutes outside of Moshi are Materuni waterfalls. As this trip is so close by it is ideal for those people with limited time but who would still like to see some of the nature and beauty that this region of Tanzania has to offer. These falls are smaller than the previously described Ndoro, but still pretty impresive at 150 meters high and definitely a sight worth seeing.
